Police in Olkalou, Nyandarua County have launched investigations into the cause of a fire that gutted five police houses at the Gichungo police post on Sunday night.
The fire is reported to have started at 1.00 am burning several items among them bicycles and motorbikes that had been impounded by police.
No one was injured during the incident, which according to a local elder Githinji Mwaniki has left the area in a security risk.
He called for quick intervention to help build new houses since the police post serves a big area.
The post was constructed through community mobilization following increased cases of theft around Gichungo and Kariamu areas.
The station’s armoury was not affected by the fire.
