Property destroyed as section of Nyali Centre collapses

The southern wing of Nyali Centre in Mombasa County has been closed indefinitely, following the collapse of the building’s toilet area early today (Monday).

The southern wing of Nyali Center that houses businesses including Java Center, Eco Bank, fitness and gym facilities was shut down after the Mombasa County Government stated that the structure was weak, adding that the contractor is being sought for negligence.

No Injuries were reported in the 4am incident, as most employees working in the building were not inside the building at that time.

According to Mombasa County Secretary Francis Thoya, the county government will now embark on an audit of buildings in the county to avert further disaster during this rainy season.

The southern wing will remain closed until the tenants’ and shoppers’ safety is ascertained.
