Property worth millions reduced to ashes

Property worth millions of shillings was on Thursday night reduced to ashes after a fire erupted at a business premise in Maua Town, Igembe South.

The fire, which residents suspect was caused by electric power surge, has led to huge losses with traders and residents salvaging nothing.

The irate residents accused the County Disaster Management Unit of sleeping on their job saying they have never been effective in their work.

“The rescue team together with the disaster management department is to be blamed for laxity in such cases. It is very unfortunate that we have lost property worth millions of shillings,” lamented the locals.

They have called upon the Member of the County Assembly, Dancun Kangwana, and Governor Peter Munya to intervene and take immediate action.
