Police officers have launched investigation into a case where an alleged commercial sex worker stole a pistol belonging to Turkana Governor Joseph Nanok’s bodyguard over the weekend in Nakuru Town.

Nakuru OCPD Joshua Omukata said on phone that the bodyguard, Benjamin Lorum Ikokoji, lost the Ceska pistol with 15 bullets after spending the night with a suspected prostitute in a lodging within the town.

Omukata said the bodyguard, attached to Lodwar Police Station, had accompanied the Governor to Nairobi on official duty on Wednesday before requesting for an off duty on Friday.

He arrived in Nakuru at around 5:00pm and booked accommodation at a lodging along Pandit Nehru Road at around 9:00pm.

Lorum, who is currently being held at locked at Nakuru Central Police Station, is said to have met the prostitute at a restaurant in the town and visited various clubs together.

The OCPD said that at midnight, the two went into the room Lorum had booked earlier and spent together only for the woman to disappear before dawn.

The officer said the prostitute disappeared with a Ceska pistol, serial number E1411 with 15 bullets, Ksh 14,000 cash, staff Identification Card (ID), shoes and clothing belonging to the bodyguard.

He added that on Saturday morning, operators within the lodging, who were on routine cleanup exercise, found the bodyguard lying unconscious on his bed.

They alerted the management who later informed police officers. The alleged prostitute is still at large.
