The amenities include a fully equipped ECDE and daycare centre, a strip mall for small businesses, and a new outpatient dispensary intended to expand access to primary healthcare for estate residents.
Hinga said the facilities form part of the broader Affordable Housing Programme, which aims to create neighbourhoods supported by essential services, including education, security and emergency response.
“The facilities here; schools, health services, retail spaces, the police post, and the fire station, are planned to support the daily needs of residents and improve access to services within the community,” Hinga said during the handover ceremony.
Interior PS Raymond Omollo, who also attended the event, welcomed the inclusion of an on-site police post, citing the scale of the development.
“We will ensure the police post is adequately staffed, and in collaboration with the State Department for Housing, we are working to expand security infrastructure, including CCTV coverage across the estate,” Omollo said.
The strip mall, according to officials, will offer workspace for services including cyber cafés, food outlets, clothing stores, and coffee shops — part of efforts to support micro-business activity close to residents’ homes.
The estate falls under the Boma Yangu platform, a government-run housing allocation system operated by the Ministry of Lands, which also handles tenant enumeration and unit applications.
According to the National Government-built Affordable Housing Programme dashboard, the project contributes to a national rollout targeting 111 constituencies, where similar developments are planned or underway.
Nairobi Deputy Governor James Njoroge said that by locating services within the estate, authorities hope to reduce barriers to childcare, healthcare access and small-scale business operations.
“This development shows the value of integrated planning — where housing is accompanied by the services residents rely on for everyday life,” Njoroge said.
Officials noted that enumeration for the 5,000 studio units is ongoing ahead of the formal allocation phase, which will be handled through the national Boma Yangu application system.
