The Principal Secretary for Medical Services Dr Ouma Oluga has inspected ongoing cancer care projects in Kisii and Kisumu aimed at expanding access to specialised oncology services and reducing patient travel for treatment.

In Kisii, Oluga toured the Cancer Centre of Excellence, saying the facility is expected to strengthen regional cancer management and lower treatment costs once operational.

In Kisumu, he assessed the Cancer Care Centre under construction at the regional referral hospital, noting that it will help address the high cancer burden in the wider Nyanza region.

The PS also said the ministry plans to enhance oncology training through collaboration with King’s College London to build local expertise and improve patient outcomes.

The visit was attended by PS Broadcasting and Telecommunications Stephen Isaboke, Kisii Deputy Governor Elijah Obebo, Lord Graham Lord, Dr Joshua Clinton Ombiri, and senior national and county officials.
