PS Sing’Oei highlights diplomatic priorities to newly appointed envoys

The luncheon, held in Nairobi on Friday, January 16, brought together designated envoys who are set to take up postings across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

Addressing the envoys, Dr. Sing’Oei congratulated them on their appointment by President William Ruto and said their deployment comes at a defining moment in Kenya’s diplomatic engagement. 

He noted that the recent parliamentary approval of the Kenya Foreign Policy 2024, through Sessional Paper No. 1 of 2025, provides a clear and unified framework to guide Kenya’s relations with the international community.

The principal secretary noted that the rapidly changing global environment, marked by economic, social, cultural, and political shifts, has made the role of diplomats critical. 

He urged the envoys to move beyond familiarity with policy documents and instead translate Kenya’s foreign policy priorities into mission specific strategies that respond to local and global realities.

Dr. Sing’Oei also called on the diplomats to actively advance Kenya’s development agenda, highlighting the growing importance of innovative financing mechanisms, including blended finance, in strengthening economic diplomacy, mobilising investment, and deepening international partnerships.

The principal secretary further emphasised citizen-centric diplomacy, noting that Kenyans living abroad expect leadership, professionalism, and responsiveness from their missions.

He stressed that heads of mission will be personally accountable for results, prudent management of public resources, and adherence to government policies.

Dr. Sing’Oei assured the envoys of the ministry’s full support, underscoring the importance of open communication, timely reporting, and close collaboration between missions and headquarters to effectively deliver Kenya’s foreign policy objectives.
