Raila Odinga unveiled as ODM’s 2017 Presidential candidate

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader, Raila Odinga, has been unveiled as the party’s presidential candidate in 2017 General Election.

The announcement was made by Mombasa Governor, Hassan Ali Joho, during the ODM tenth anniversary celebrations at the Mama Ngina Drive in Mombasa.

Holding hands with Joho and Kakamega Governor, Wycliffe Oparanya, Odinga was declared as the party’s presidential candidate choice.

Joho urged voters to also become campaigners in 2017 in order to clinch the Presidency for Odinga.

In his speech, the Mombasa Governor criticized the Jubilee government saying the coastal region has been sidelined.

“I am not interested in working with the Jubilee Government. What I want to see is Mombasa County complimenting the National Government, just like it should be. I will never go to another politician to ask for money. If you come with your envelope, I have a bigger one,” said Joho amid cheers from the crowd.

Joho also told those who had defected to Jubilee that they will not be the first from the region to do so.

“Those who have already defected will go, just like those who defected before them did. My friend, the Kwale Governor said I should not interfere with Kwale issues. But let me tell him that issues that affect the people of Kwale also affect me,” said Joho.
