The public viewing of the body of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has resumed at Kasarani Stadium following a brief disruption earlier on Thursday afternoon.

Chaos erupted when thousands of Odinga’s supporters attempted to forcefully access the VIP area, where his body was being held for public viewing. The crowd, seemingly growing impatient after hours of waiting, began hurling chairs and stones at security personnel manning the restricted section.

The disturbance, which occurred shortly after 3:00 p.m., prompted police officers to fire warning shots in the air and deploy teargas canisters in an attempt to disperse the crowd.

As a result, the stadium grounds were temporarily cleared, with at least two individuals reportedly shot by security officers.

Among the dignitaries present at the event are President William Ruto, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta.
