Azimio la Umoja coalition leader Raila Odinga has spoken strongly against the ongoing early campaigns in Kisumu County warning leaders to stop jostling for 2027 positions and instead work for the people.

Odinga warned those seeking to unseat Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyongo, saying they must concentrate on delivering services in their current seats.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader pointed out on Nyakach Mp Aduma Owuor, Kisumu Central Mp Joshua Oron, Deputy Governor Dr Mathew Owili and Kisumu Senator Prof Tom Ojienda, warning them to hold their horses.

He noted that there is too much political temperature in the county, and Governor Anyang’ Nyongo must be supported to deliver to Kisumu residents as he is still in office until 2027.

Odinga who sounded agitated amidst applause from mourners at the burial of former Nyakach Mp Peter Odoyo's wife on Saturday, said that such campaigns will hurt the development plans of leaders in office.

Odinga also warned a number of MCAs in the Kisumu County Assembly who are crisscrossing the County campaigning for MP positions, especially in Nyakach Constituency.
