First
Lady Rachel Ruto has come out to publicly celebrate her husband, President
William Ruto, on his birthday.
Ruto turned
56 on Wednesday and Rachael took to social media to send him a message of
goodwill, saying God has been faithful in their union.
The first
lady, while referring to her
husband as Bill, her oft-preferred name for public goodwill messages dedicated to him, also revealed that
December 21 doubles up as their wedding anniversary.
“Psalms 9:1 I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my
heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds. Happy Birthday and happy
wedding anniversary, Bill. The Lord has been Faithful,” tweeted Mrs
Ruto.
The
first lady never shies away from celebrating her husband in warm public
messages.
Just
three months ago during President Ruto's inaugural address to
the 13th Parliament, Rachel took to social media to revisit the memories oftheir humble beginnings.
“Reminiscing those early days, having to nurse my
own children and nurture many others who saw a mother in me, if you told me I
would someday become The First Lady, I would have laughed it off as a bad joke,”
she wrote.
She described her husband then as “different”,
saying “he pronounced nothing but greatness for himself and us
all.”
“If you would tell him then, that he
would someday become the President, I'm certain he would have smiled, and replied
with an, "Amen!"."
Rachel added: “With his new
responsibility as the President, I don't intend to learn selfishness now. I still want to be the Chebet he married
three decades ago. His supportive wife Chichi, caring mother of his children
and the accommodative First Lady of the People of Kenya.”
Rachel
and Ruto met after college when they were both teachers. They married in 1991
and they together have seven children.
