Reports on GEMA politicians meeting at Thika Greens to discuss Uhuru succession is fake news- Moses Kuria

Political leaders drawn from the Mt Kenya region on Friday evening met at Kirinyaga Senator Charles Kibiru’s home smack in the swanky Thika Greens resort.

The agenda of the meeting remains largely unclear although pundits claim it was pegged on the 2022 succession politics.

The Standard reported that Jubilee politicians including those in the Ruto’s camp were invited to the get together.

Among those in attendance according to the publisher was Interior PS Karanja Kibicho.

On social media, claims were rife that over 50 politicians from the Mt Kenya region were in attendance.

On Saturday, however, Gatundu South MP poured cold water on claims that the meeting focused on President Kenyatta’s succession.

In a post on Facebook, Kuria said politicians from the Mt Kenya region kicked off a series of meetings from Friday to discuss the ” repositioning of our core counties with the additional resources that will ultimately come with the new formula”.

At the same time, the vocal legislator scoffed at the rumors that politicians were haggling on President Kenyatta’s succession as the 2022 show down hots up.

“When Mt Kenya meets its followed by suspicion, misinformation, innuendo and propaganda. There was no politics- Absolutely None- at Thika Greens yesterday, let alone succession politics,” Kuria said.

Further, Kuria said all the other regions are free to meet and discuss ways of uplifting the lives of their people.
