President William Ruto has appointed veteran journalist Munyori Buku as the Head of the Presidential Communication Service.

State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed announced on Wednesday that Buku, who is the current Secretary for Public Communication at State House, would take up his new role immediately.

Prior to his promotion, Buku had served as Senior Director of Public Communication at State House, Director of Communication in the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Ministry of Finance, and Editorial Manager at the Kenya Yearbook Editorial Board.

He will now take over from David Mugonyi who was late last year appointed Director General of the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA).

Buku boasts more than 26 years of senior-level experience in strategic communication within both the public and private sectors.

He started his career as a teacher in several high schools nationwide before transitioning to journalism.

He rose through the ranks over the years and was once the Standard Group's Managing Editor and Nation Media Group's Sub-Editor.

Buku holds a Bachelor of Education (Arts) from Kenyatta University and a postgraduate diploma in Mass Communication from the University of Nairobi.
