President William Ruto on Thursday jetted
back into the country after his four-day visit to Germany and Belgium.
The Head of State departed on Sunday. He
touched down at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi and was
welcomed by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagaua.
Ruto’s visit was centred on reinforcing Kenya’s
commitment to the Kenya – EU Strategic Dialogue and deepening the partnership
between Kenya and the European Union.
He met President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in talks aimed at strengthening bilateral
relations between Kenya and Germany.
Ruto also delivered a keynote address at the
Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue, outlining the challenges of energy security
amidst the worsening climate crisis and the push for investments in renewable
energy, in Kenya and Africa.
During the German visit, Kenya also explored a partnership
with Germany on the youth agenda, specifically in vocational education and
training.
In Brussels meanwhile, Ruto met Alexander De
Croo, Prime Minister of Belgium, where they discussed mutual areas of interest
including health, Kenya’s food security and drought response, climate action,
