Ruto, Gachagua can't play tribal politics and preach about national unity - Kigame

Kigame, who faulted the character of the two leaders, said their actions have led to division in the country. 

“The burden of proof for national unity is with the two of them, the two of them should unite then tell us to unite. You can’t be playing tribal politics like Rigathi is and appointing people based on tribe like Ruto is. And then you preach to us about national unity, that is hypocrisy,” Kigame said on Citizen TV’s Daybreak show. 

According to Kigame, the recent talks on a split between Ruto and Gachagua is aimed at diverting the attention of the nation from real issues that ail Kenyans. 

“ They are trying to make us busy talking about their division, when the real issues are the sufferings of Kenyans… evictions, demolitions, Finance Bill.” 

He accused politicians of splitting Kenyans on tribal lines. 

The musician has also faulted Ruto for what he termed as lack of transparency in the cost of hiring a private jet during his tour of the United States of America.

 “When the president says we need to live within our means but he himself spends time travelling extravagantly, spending that kind of money and lying to the international community. Lying at a prayer meeting.  There is ambiguity on the trip expense,” he stated. 

On the Finance Bill, Kigame challenged Members of Parliament to ensure proper public participation. 

He censured parliament for failing to ensure that the Bill is accessible to all members of the public, for review and submission of memoranda. 

For instance, persons living with disability have been sidelined, as the Bill has not been made accessible in formats such as braille and sign language. 

Kigame challenged MPs to take a personal initiative of presenting the Bill to their constituents and get their views.
