President William Ruto has made various changes to the country’s
foreign service, reassigning Ababu Namwamba as High Commissioner to Uganda.
In the changes, announced by Head of Public Service Felix Koskei
on Wednesday, Ruto moved current High Commissioner to Uganda Joash Maangi to
Belgium as Ambassador to the European Union.
“The changes are necessitated by vacancies arising from the completion
of the terms of service of serving Ambassadors. The changes take effect
immediately,” said Koskei.
Namwamba
now moves to Uganda from the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) where
he was serving as Kenya’s the Permanent Representative following his
appointment in January last year.
He also
previously served as Sport Cabinet Secretary, before losing his seat when
President William Ruto.
