Ruto sued over Weston Hotel

A businessman has moved to court seeking orders to have Deputy President William Ruto surrender the controversial Weston Hotel to the government.
Njeru also wants the court to declare Ruto’s acquisition of the hotel unconstitutional and that he surrenders the title deed to the National Lands Commission (NLC) for cancellation.
In his suit, Njeru argues that the DP is not morally fit to hold any public office and should step aside to pave way for investigations into his conduct.
Last month, Ruto laughed off CORD leader Raila Odinga’s demand for the demolition of the Weston Hotel along Lang’ata Road and repossession of the land it’s built on.
Odinga challenged President Uhuru Kenyatta to bring down the hotel and prosecute Ruto, who has acknowledged part ownership of the facility allegedly built on a parcel of land belonging to the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA).
Ruto maintained that the piece of land was not grabbed and featured nowhere in the Ndung’u Land Report or any of the lists of grabbed land filed by Former Cabinet Minister James Orengo during his tenure at Ardhi House.
