Ruto warns schools against sending children home for ‘food money’

Deputy President William Ruto has warned school heads against sending children home over failure to pay money for lunch and other projects.

Dr. Ruto reiterated that day schools are free and faulted headteachers for asking students to pay yet the government caters for them.

Speaking at a graduation ceremony at the Kamwenja Teachers Training College in Nyeri, the DP warned that if any school sends a child home for non-payment they will be held accountable.

The Deputy President further added that the government wants to ensure that the 100percent transition in schools.

“We want to ensure that all children have a chance at education despite their financial background as it is the only way children from different social standings in society will be equal,” he said.

He further called on teachers  graduating with diplomas to be at the forefront of implementing the new curriculum.

The DP also urged the youth to unify the country in the fight against corruption.
