Ruto’s big day: Graduation, birthday & wedding anniversary

Deputy President William Ruto will on Friday, December 21 graduate with a doctorate from the University of Nairobi.

He is expected to graduate with a PhD in Plant Ecology, a course he enrolled for in August 2012.

The title of his thesis is ‘Influence of human activities on land use changes on environmental quality of riparian ecosystems: A case study of Saiwa Swamp watershed, Western Kenya’.

Incidentally, his long-awaited graduation, which will change his title to Dr. William Ruto, comes as a double celebration as it coincides with his birthday and wedding anniversary.

The DP was born on December 21, 1966.

He will be celebrating his 52nd birthday as well as 27 years of marriage to his wife Rachel Ruto.

Two years ago, he did not make it to the graduation list after he failed to meet the necessary requirements.

This coming Friday, however, Mr. Ruto will be conferred the title of Doctor alongside five others, whose names were approved by the Nairobi University senate, chaired by VC Prof Peter Mbithi.
