President William
Ruto's Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Felix Koskei has put on notice
a number of individuals he says are transitioning between government offices
intimidating and extorting State officials in his name.
In a statement issued
on Friday, Koskei urged State officials and agencies to be careful of
individuals claiming to be conducting official businesses in his name.
"It has
regrettably come to my attention that unscrupulous criminal elements are moving
from one government office to the next intimidating state officials and
extorting money in my name," he stated.
"I call upon
Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, and CEOs of State corporations to
be wary of these crooks and promptly report them to the appropriate authorities
for swift action."
He further added
that any individual found masquerading as himself will face stern legal action.
"The era of
criminals taking advantage of gullible Kenyans seeking jobs and government
services by misusing names of senior state officials is long gone, and firm
action will be taken against these elements," said Koskei.
