Saba Saba protests: Death toll in Kisumu rises to two

The death toll following Saba Saba skirmishes in Kisumu on Friday has risen to two after one of the patients undergoing treatment at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH), passed away last night.

The hospital CEO Dr. George Rae told Citizen Digital that a man, who was shot in the chest at Kondele area, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

Rae added that one other person is still admitted at the facility after he was shot in the leg in Kirembe area in Kisumu West Sub-County.

The 30-year old man was referred to the facility from Chulaimbo hospital, where he had been rushed after the incident.

The first death occurred in Obunga slums where a middle-aged man is said to have been shot by police.

According to Rae, seven other people injured during the Saba Saba protests are still admitted at the facility while seven others have since been discharged.
