Sakaja beats Igathe to win Nairobi Governor seat
Sakaja who was running on a UDA party ticket garnered a total of 699,392 votes, while Igathe raked in some 573,516 votes.
Sakaja had been projected to win by multiple pollsters who gave him a comfortable lead against Igathe – a corporate hotshot who was making a comeback to active politics after a short stint as Nairobi Deputy Governor.
The outgoing senator had a taxing run for the seat which included battling claims that he did not possess an academic degree.
