Schneider Electric has launched Phase Two of its Conserve My Planet (CMP) programme in Machakos County, expanding environmental education and sustainability training to a new group of students.

The second phase began at Kinanie High School, where 723 students have been enrolled into the initiative. The programme targets secondary school learners, equipping them with practical and theoretical knowledge on climate change, energy use and sustainable living.

A key addition in this phase is the integration of a component from UN-Habitat, which introduces lessons on safe walking and cycling under its PAAPAM initiative. The module links mobility, environmental responsibility and urban sustainability, encouraging students to adopt safer and more climate-conscious daily practices.

The CMP programme was first introduced in Kenya in 2025 under Schneider Electric’s global youth learning initiative. It focuses on areas such as energy efficiency, renewable energy, waste management and environmental stewardship, while encouraging students to take leadership roles within their schools.

The first phase was implemented at St. Augustine Secondary School in Mlolongo, reaching 2,907 students. Insights from that rollout have been used to refine the curriculum and improve delivery in the second phase.

Locally, the programme is implemented by the Theresia & Fidelis Foundation, which works with schools and communities to promote hands-on learning. Activities include environmental audits, innovation challenges and community-based projects.

The programme is expected to run for two years in Kenya, with a target of reaching about 3,500 students across Machakos County.
