Schneider Electric has received the Gender Leader Award at the 2025 Africa CEO Forum, held in Abidjan from May 12–13. The award recognises companies operating in Africa that demonstrate consistent efforts in advancing gender diversity and inclusion.
Schneider Electric was acknowledged for its progress in promoting female leadership across its African operations. Women currently lead the company’s French-speaking Africa division, with leadership for English-speaking Africa also transitioning to a female executive starting June 1.
The Gender Leader Award criteria include:
- Women’s representation on African subsidiary boards.
- Female participation on executive committees.
- Initiatives supporting female leadership and inclusion.
- Measurable progress in gender equality strategies such as mentoring and talent development.
The company has increased female representation in senior roles, introduced mentorship programmes, and embedded gender equity into its talent development strategies. Through its Africa Talent Programme, Schneider Electric also supports local skills development with a focus on inclusion.
Devan Pillay, outgoing Cluster President for Anglophone Africa, noted:
“A representative workforce is critical to building a sustainable business. This recognition reflects our efforts to develop and promote women across all levels.”
Tanya Ramlagan, Vice President of Human Resources for Anglophone Africa, added: “We’re proud of this milestone, but there is more work ahead. We remain focused on creating opportunities for women to lead and shape the energy sector in Africa.”
The Africa CEO Forum, established in 2012, serves as a platform connecting African leaders with global investors. The Gender Leader Award is part of its broader mission to promote inclusive and sustainable business practices across the continent.
