Scores feared dead as MV Nyerere ferry sinks in Lake Victoria

Scores of people are feared dead after MV Nyerere Ferry capsized at Lake Victoria in Tanzania on Thursday.
The ferry, which is reported to have a capacity of 100 passengers, was plying between Bugorara and Ukala islands in Tanzania.
In a statement confirming the incident, the Tanzania Electrical, Mechanical and Electronics Services Agency (TEMESA) said rescue efforts were underway.
Tanzanian newspaper The Citizen reported that 20 people were rescued by fishermen immediately after the accident.
It is not clear how many people were on the ferry at the time the incident occurred.
