Screams, anguish as Kipyegon Kenei’s family holds funeral service

John Chesang, the father of the late Sergeant Arnold Kipyegon Kenei who was attached to the office Deputy President has exuded confidence over the progress so far by the Government to find justice his son.

Speaking after funeral service outside Umash funeral home, Nakuru Chesang said the government should now reveal the data from his late son’s phone.

Detectives handling the matter previously told the press that the Kenei’s killers had colluded with an employee of Safaricom to erase crucial data from his phone after his death.

The missing data is a crucial link that will trace the very last moments of the police officer before he was killed at his one-roomed house.

During the funeral service, the late Kenei’s father looked disturbed before the body arrived. He only talked to a few relatives before the body arrived and the casket was carried by eight police officers.

The service was almost brought to standstill by the late Kenei’s wife Alice Chesang who broke down after seeing her husband’s casket.

It took the intervention of her family members to calm her down as mourners streamed into the church.

While welcoming Kenyans to the burial slated for Saturday, the late Kenei’s father asked the DCI to focus on completing the probe and not the post-mortem results.

This comes as clan elders Moses Laktano, Patrick Chesang and William Chebet demanded that the government reveals the identity of the killers before the burial.

The deceased was found dead at his house in Imara Daima on February 20.

Investigations point to a murder with the DCI saying the officer was privy to details of the Ksh.39B military equipment scam.

He was in charge on the day former sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa visited Ruto’s office accompanied by polish nationals during the elaborate scam.
