Senate to Go to Court

The Senate could be heading to the Supreme Court as soon as Tuesday, to seek an advisory opinion on the constitutionality of 46 acts of parliament, that it claims were passed by the national assembly and assented to by President Uhuru Kenyatta, without its input, as provided for in article 110 of the constitution. The Senators are concerned that they were locked out of deliberations on the mining bill that was passed by the National Assembly two weeks ago, and which awaits presidential assent. Francis Gachuri reports on the growing sibling rivalry between the two houses of parliament that could have serious political ramifications.
