The Social Health Authority has begun disbursing Ksh.11.1 billion to healthcare providers to settle approved claims under the Social Health Insurance Fund.

In a notice issued by Mercy Mwangangi, Chief Executive Officer of the Social Health Authority, the payments would be released in batches to ensure a smooth and efficient transfer of funds to contracted facilities.

According to the agency, the disbursement cycle is expected to run throughout the coming week and will be completed by Thursday, March 19.

The authority reassured healthcare facilities that all successfully processed and approved claims submitted under the fund would be settled within the payment period.

The funds are part of ongoing efforts by the agency to support healthcare infrastructure and ensure continued delivery of quality medical services to the public under the government’s health insurance programme.

Facilities were advised to allow time for batch processing and standard inter-bank clearing procedures before raising any concerns about pending payments.

The authority said healthcare providers should wait until Thursday before making inquiries regarding unpaid claims.

"Should any facility not receive payment for their approved claims by the conclusion of this cycle, our dedicated support teams will be readily available from Friday, 20th March 2026, to provide the necessary clarifications and assist with reconciliations," stated
