Siaya: Thugs break into school, steal pupil’s tablets

A primary school in Alego-Usonga Constituency, Siaya County, is counting losses after their offices were broken into and property of unknown value stolen on Tuesday.

According to Nyasidhi Primary School Deputy Headteacher, Boniface Aloo, the administration block offices were broken into and several items stolen among them; pupils’ tablets, a projector, computer networking systems and stationery.

Aloo stated that he discovered the theft at around 7.30am when he reported to school only to find the windows and the rear door of the administration block wide open.

He further told Radio Ramogi that they also found the cabinet where the tablets are usually kept broken into and several of the gadgets on the floor.

Mr. Aloo said they had reported the matter to the nearby Ng’iya Police Station, noting that they are yet to establish the exact value of the property that was stolen.

Nyasidhi Primary School had received about 72 pupils’ tablets under the Digital Learning Programme (DLP) that was launched by the Ministry of Education across the country.
