Mary Wanjiru Kamuyu, the sister to the late Fridah Warau Kamuyu who drowned alongside a male acquaintance in a dam in Juja, Kiambu County last week, has asked well-wishers to help her return back to Kenya from Saudi Arabia so that she can pay her respects to her deceased kin.

Speaking to Inooro TV's Simon Kibe, via a phone interview, Wanjiru implied that she does not have the financial capacity to foot the air travel bill from Riyadh to Nairobi even though her sister is set to be laid to rest on Wednesday next week.

"I am currently in Saudi Arabia and would like to be assisted in travelling back home so that I can give my sister a proper send-off," said Wanjiru, the firstborn in a family of five.

Wanjiru also lamented that owing to her current geographical position, she's been forced to mourn and grieve Fridah's death all alone.

"For us, as family members, we are in great pain. I am all alone here and I have no one to comfort me or talk to," she said.

An autopsy conducted on the body of Kamuyu on Thursday revealed that she died due to drowning.

Kamuyu died alongside Tirus Kiiru, a 39-year-old Kiambu businessman.

On the fateful day, the two are reported to have been together inside a Nissan X-trail vehicle, which they had parked at the edge of the dam, a popular hangout spot for revellers.

The vehicle would however plunge into the dam at around 7 pm under unclear circumstances.
