The Makadara Law Courts has granted police 21 days to detain six suspects linked to an attempted burglary reported at South B Police Station on November 16, 2025.

The suspects were arrested on the same day at Jackim Estate in South B after allegedly attempting to break into a house.

According to investigators, the homeowner, Kuldip Bansal, was away at the time, while the caretaker had stepped out for Sunday service.

Police say the group drove into the estate in a Nissan X-Trail, allegedly ignoring a stop request by a security guard at the main gate before speeding toward the targeted house.

The guard is said to have quickly alerted the estate chairman, who in turn contacted police, leading to a swift arrest.

Officers recovered several items believed to be used in burglary activities, including a set of master keys, claw bars, spanners, reflector jackets, and multiple motor vehicle registration plates.

During Tuesday’s miscellaneous application, an affidavit filed by lead investigator Michael Kokani stated that the suspects are being held at Industrial Area Police Station.

He argued that the 21-day detention is necessary to complete investigations, citing the short time available before presenting the case in court.

Investigators further told the court that the six are linked to similar incidents reported in other police stations across the country, describing them as “persons of interest” in a wider criminal pattern.

They also raised concerns for the suspects’ safety if released, noting rising public anger.

The court heard that victims from as far as Mombasa have come forward after recognising the suspects from media reports, prompting detectives to consolidate reports and evidence from multiple jurisdictions.

The six remain in custody as officers compile what they believe could be a multi-county burglary dossier.
