Sonko leads protest against Body by Design Kenya cosmetic clinic

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, accompanied by outraged residents, protested outside the offices of Body by Design Kenya in Nairobi, demanding answers following allegations of botched cosmetic surgeries that reportedly led to fatalities.

The Thursday protest comes amid a growing number of complaints on social media accusing the cosmetic clinic of malpractice.

Speaking to the press outside the clinic, Sonko called on the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists, and Dentists Board (KMPDB) to conduct an investigation. He stated that his office had received numerous appeals from grieving mothers who alleged that cosmetic surgeries performed by the clinic had resulted in deaths.

“It is all over social media—people are accusing this entity of botched cosmetic surgeries. Where is KMPDB? Let them investigate these claims and provide clarity to the public,” Sonko urged.

This week, reports emerged about a woman’s death allegedly following a surgery at the clinic, prompting concerned citizens to seek Sonko's intervention. As of now, neither Body by Design Kenya nor the KMPDB has released a public statement addressing the allegations or the recent reported death.
