Speaker Justin Muturi to Rule on PAC’s Fate

This follows a request by a section of mps to re-constitute the crucial house team.

Namwamba survived ouster in the committee last week after he was accused of receiving bribes to alter PAC audit reports.

A section of mps, led by national assembly majority leader Aden Duale, now want the speaker to call for a re-constitution of the committee riddled with wrangles and graft claims.

Duale’s proposal was seconded by Deputy Minority Leader Jakoyo Midiwo, who added that the country had lost faith in the leadership of the committee.

Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno was however opposed to the calls for Namwamba’s resignation and instead asked the speaker to investigate all the members in the committee to ensure they all pass the integrity test.

In a quick rejoinder, embattled PAC chair Ababu Namwamba challenged anyone with evidence to come forward and present it for investigation.

The committee of 26 members can only be led by an mp from the opposition, Cord coalition, since the powerful committee scrutinizes and audits government expenditure.
