Starehe MP Charles Njagua Jaguar to spend 2nd night in police custody

Starehe MP Charles Njagua aka Jaguar will spend another night at Kileleshwa police station pending his bail ruling.

Magistrate Sinkiyan Tobiko said she will give her ruling on the matter on Friday.

The Prosecution had sought court to have Jaguar detained for 14 days at Kamukunji Police Station to allow for completion of investigations.

Court papers seen by Citizen Digital said credible intelligence showed that Jaguar had been allegedly planning to mobilise gangs to invade private property and attack foreign nationals residing in the country.

In their submission, the Prosecution noted that investigators have already written to the Communication Authority (CA) and are in the process of writing to Media houses to provide clips of recordings of comments made by Jaguar.

Detectives further revealed that they have so far seized the MPs mobile phone which is yet to be forensically examined.

“The team of investigators are yet obtain Subscriber Details, Line History, IMEI History, text messages (SMS) and Call Data Records (CDR) in relation to the phone numbers that the Respondent has been using…,” Duncan Ondimu for the State said.

Njagua was arrested outside Parliament Buildings on Wednesday over his alleged inciteful remarks against foreign traders.

This follows remarks he made while visiting traders along Kirinyaga Road condemning foreigners from running businesses in Nairobi.
