State House Girls parents protest alleged 'full fees payment' directive

Police were called in to restore calm along the busy road following the protests that disrupted traffic flow.

The school's principal, Everlyn Nabukwesi, has however refuted the parents' claims accusing them of being uncooperative.

The parents claim that they were designated persona-non-grata until they clear other requirements including ream papers and brooms among other items.

"When I arrived here earlier I was barred from accessing the institution since I didn't have ream papers. So I had to leave and come back with the ream papers but when I returned I was then told that my daughter was late for school," one of the parents told Citizen Digital.

Despite clearing half the school fees, some parents say they were turned away and asked to report back with full fees while others claim they were locked out for failing to report to school on time. 

"They want us to clear this term's entire fees, Ksh.26,000, before our children can be allowed into the facility. I don't  know where I'll get the remaining cash since I've already paid Ksh.13,000," Valeria Maya, another parent  added.

Speaking to Citizen Digital via a phone interview, Nabukwesi refuted the claims and blamed the parents for taking advantage of the ministry's directive to evade their responsibilities of paying school fees. 

She said some parents have been playing hide and seek for years with fee arrears running into millions of shillings.
