Supreme Court upholds election of Alfred Keter as Nandi Hills MP

Alfred Keter can now breathe a sigh of relief after the Supreme Court upheld his election as the Nandi Hills Member of Parliament.

In their ruling, the judges declared that Keter was validly elected in the 2017 poll and dismissed the petition by Bernard Kitur who cited violence, intimidation of voters, agents during campaigns and on Election Day as well as voter bribery.

This comes after the High Court in Eldoret nullified his election in March 1, 2018 where Justice George Kimondo indicated that the evidence provided in court proved that irregularities were committed in the August 8 election.

Keter was declared the winner of the Nandi Hills August poll with 28,923 votes against 13,872 garnered by his rival Kitur.
