This comes as gubernatorial candidates rush to meet the set deadline by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to present their running mates by May 16.
Speaking at a press address on Monday, Kihika said Kones was picked after a rigorous vetting process of 16 candidates, in which he turned out as an outstanding contender.
"After going through a rigorous exercise, we have nominated David Kones. He will be my running mate for the gubernatorial seat for Nakuru County under UDA and Kenya Kwanza coalition," said Kihika.
"We have been having a few weeks of back and forth interviews and vetting of extremely qualified candidates who had offered themselves to be my running mate."
Kihika thanked those who presented themselves to vie for the deputy governor seat, promising them a stake in both the county and national level, should she clinch the Nakuru top seat, and Kenya Kwanza the presidency.
Kones is an educationist who served as a High School Principal and has a degree in conflict management. He hails from Kiptagich in Kuresoi South.
Kihika will be seeking to unseat incumbent Governor Lee Kinyanjui who will be defending his seat on a Jubilee ticket.
