Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested a suspected notorious cryptocurrency swindler.

The suspect, identified as Bavon Onyancha Masese, was nabbed in Kiamunyi area, Nakuru County, following an intensified manhunt by Kilifi North detectives.

Masese, who has also been operating under the aliases Abdirahaman Abdikarim and Jamie Damon, is accused of conning a Kilifi woman Ksh.3.9 million.

“This revelation immediately put him on the detectives' radar, with the seasoned gumshoes trailing the perpetrator, effectively halting his scamming streak,” the DCI said in a statement.

“Further investigations linked Bavon to multiple digital transactions and unlawful cryptocurrency operations used to defraud victims across the country, leading to his prosecution at the Kilifi Law Courts.

Masese will now face multiple charges including money laundering, unauthorised registration of SIM cards, obtaining money by false pretence, and conspiracy to defraud.
