Suspected poachers freed on Sh5m cash bail each

Three suspected poachers were on Wednesday 29th November freed on a Ksh. 5 million bond each after they were arrested for being in possession of elephant tusks in Maara, Meru County on Tuesday 28th November.

The suspects were holed in a hotel in Chogoria town, where they are alleged to have been waiting for the buyers to transact the business with the 14 pieces of ivory weighing 58 kilograms valued at Ksh 5.8 million.

The three; M’andeka Mbiuki, Patrick Muthuri and Lukas Njagi who appeared before Chuka Resident Magistrate Mwanamkuu Sudi however denied the charges and were granted the bond.

The case will be mentioned on 11th of December 2017 and heard on the 22nd of January 2018.
