Fake gym members and stolen cars: Police bust carjacking ring at TRM

Police in Kasarani on Tuesday arrested two suspects linked to a carjacking syndicate at Thika Road Mall (TRM) and its environs.

According to the police report, the thugs have been posing as gym members but once they access the changing rooms, steal car keys and drive away with the vehicles.

“One of the suspects tried to drive out of TRM but could not produce the parking chip coin. The guards alerted the police and the vehicle was recovered,” OCPD Kasarani Peter Kimani said.

A bunch of car keys suspected was also discovered and police believe that the suspects used them to steal valuables.

Another vehicle with registration No. KCU 277C was also recovered at Ngumba estate on Thika Road.

The Kasarani police poss further indicated that the gang  could be linked to theft of laptops, phones and other items from TRM.

The two suspects are currently being held at Kasarani Police station while investigations continue.
