Tabitha Karanja wins Nakuru Senate UDA nominations
Keroche
Breweries CEO Tabitha Karanja has been declared the winner of the United
Democratic Alliance (UDA) party ticket in the Nakuru Senate race.
Dr.
Karanja won the Deputy President William Ruto-led party nominations after
garnering 98,439 votes.
She
was followed by Gichanga Daniel who secured 12,240 votes, and coming in third
place was Andrew Yatich with 8,043 votes.
Dr. Karanja declared that she would be seeking the Nakuru Senatorial
seat in the 2022 General Elections last year, saying her bid was aimed at
changing policies she termed as punitive to local investors.
She
then joined UDA in January this year during the party’s campaign rally at the Nakuru Show Grounds, where she hailed DP Ruto's bottom-up
economic model as one of the solutions to improving livelihoods in the country.
Liza
Chelule won the Nakuru UDA Woman Representative race with 86,340 votes, beating
Jennifer Kajuju (56,022) and Flora Kiprop (25,955).
