Barely two months after officially assuming office, Meru County Governor Kawira Mwangaza is under siege by Members of County Assembly who are now expressing rebellion against her.

On Wednesday, Meru County MCAs staged a walkout on Governor Mwangaza during what was set to be her official opening of the county assembly, accusing her of being disrespectful towards them.

Even worse, the MCAs went ahead to turn the tables on Mwangaza mocking her using the same song her husband had used to tell off her predecessor Kiraitu Murungi after she was sworn into office.

During Mwangaza's inauguration on August 25th, her husband Mr. Murega Baicu who is an artist jovially performed a song in which he appeared to send a message of good riddance to Kawira's predecessor Governor Kiraitu Murungi.

Kiraitu, who emerged third in the Meru Governor race, was not present during the swearing-in of Kawira.

While playing the guitar and dancing along, Baicu sang: "Kawira twende...kawira twende...twende twende....kawira twende.... king'ang'i bye kingang'i bye bye bye King'ang'i bye."

First forward to October 19, the MCAs on Wednesday mocked Kawira using the same song, this time praising the current county assembly speaker Ayub Bundi while ridiculing the governor.

"Ayub twende, Ayub twende...twende twende....Ayub twende....Kawira bye Kawira bye bye bye Kawira bye," chanted the MCAs.

The chanting MCAs denied Governor Kawira entry into the Assembly forcing her to make an address outside the chambers.

Citing arrogance as grounds for their actions, the MCAs claimed that the governor had for the last two weeks been ungracious to requests of holding discussions with them and disregarding their demands.

They also accused Governor Kawira and her officers of humiliating them, demanding that they be acknowledged as elected leaders.
