Tanzanian Beggars Arrested in Meru Crackdown

In an operation led by Meru County Administrator Jotham Kirimi, the officers arrested foreign beggars, among them 10 Tanzanian nationals, two from Kuria County, one from Nakuru and others from different parts of the county.

Speaking to the press after the crackdown, Kirimi said that they have been receiving complaints from Meru residents about the beggars which led to the operation.

He added that they were also looking for the proprietor of the building where the beggars have been hiding.

Kirimi pointed out that the foreigners had no documents or identity cards on them which was alarming especially now in the wake of terror attacks in the country.
