Ten suspects were on Monday charged in court for engaging in a Ksh.10 billion fraud land deal in Nairobi.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), a long-running probe established that the ten suspects conspired with intent to defraud Realty Brokers Limited of a prime parcel of land by providing a doctored allotment letter from the National Land Commission, in the name of Mwadi Women Entrepreneurs Limited.

"The ten include a Registrar of Titles at the Ministry of Lands headquarters Ardhi House, Jacob Cartwright Owino, and a Land Administration officer, Andrew Aseri Kirungu, who were further charged with abuse of office," said DCI on X.

Other suspects include Diana Njeri Muiyuro, James Mbote Gicheha, Joseph Njoroge Kimani, Joseph Gichohi Kinyanjui, Gladys Wambui Mwangi, Mohamed Jimale Abdille, Charles Mwangi Waithaka and George Ndungu Mumbi.

Nine suspects pleaded not guilty to the charges and were released on Ksh.100,000 cash bail.

Land officer Andrew Aseri Kirungu failed to appear before the court citing illness.
