Tension is building up at Ngaratuko area in Baringo County after a blind school headteacher was killed by bandits during a Saturday morning attack.

Thomas Kibet, the Kagir Primary School headteacher, was on motorcycle with his wife and child during the incident.

The family is said to have been headed to an Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Kipcherere Secondary School where the man’s other children learn when the bandits struck.

Confirming the incident, the Baringo County Police Commander Julius Kiragu said the bandits ambushed the three and shot the man on the head, killing him on the spot.

His wife and child are presently receiving treatment at the Marigat sub-county hospital

Kibet reportedly survived a bandit attack in 1978 when he was just 9 years old while he was herding his father's cattle; he was shot on the right eye and the bullet wound left him completely blind.
