Man killed, beheaded in bandit attack

Tension is high in Elgeyo Marakwet County after an incident where a man was killed and his head chopped off by unknown attackers Sunday night.

The man is believed to have been shot first before the attackers, who are believed to be from a neighboring community, chopped off his head and left with it.

According to the Deputy County Commissioner of Marakwet East Sub-county Erick Mulevu, police officers have since been deployed in the area to contain the unrest among locals.

“Police have been deployed to ensure security in the area and in all schools. We assure residents that the perpetrators will be found and they will face the full wrath of the law,” he said.

The attackers also stole livestock.

This happens in the wake of several bandit attacks in the area that have led to more than 40 people losing their lives.
