At least three people were injured after fire broke out at the Mbaraki Bulk Terminal Limited (MBTL) in Mombasa on Saturday, August 5.

According to the management of the crude oil facility, the inferno was caused by an oil tanker that accidentally caused fire within the premises at around 11:30 am.

Although the fire spread to consume other two tankers, members of the public and the management of the fuel facility have lauded the Mombasa Fire Department for acting swiftly to ensure that the fire has been contained and do not spread further by 2 pm.

The management has assured the workers of their safety going forward, insisting that robust measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of the terminal is not compromised.

Investigation into the matter has since been launched with authorities committing to providing further details in due time.
