Three KDF soldiers involved in a road crash airlifted to Nairobi for treatment

Three KDF officers who were involved in a road accident  on Saturday morning have been airlifted to Nairobi for treatment.

Confirming the incident, Nyamira county commissioner Amos Mariba said that the nine service personnel from the Kenya Defence Forces who had attended a funeral in the county were involved in a road accident near Bonyunyu area along Nyamira-Miruka road.

They were headed back to Nairobi when the accident occurred.

Mariba said that the driver of the KDF bus Daniel Munyi from the DOD headquarters lost control after the brakes failed.

The bus in turn hit a pavement and rolled off the road.

Three servicemen sustained serious head injuries and leg fractures while three civilians who were riding in the same bus sustained minor injuries.

The three servicemen were treated at the Nyamira County Refferal Hospital and later airlifted by a KDF helicopter to Nairobi for specialized treatment.

The three civilians who sustained soft tissue injuries were transferred to Kisii referral hospital.
