Detectives in Nairobi have arrested three robbery suspects who allegedly abducted a pastor and stripped him naked before robbing him of Ksh.55,000 around the Nyayo National Stadium on Thursday.

The three, Bernard Mbunga Mbusu, Alphonse Munyau and Samuel Musembi Kamito, were nabbed separately at their homes in Syokimau, Kitengela and Katani areas respectively.

A statement by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Saturday revealed that the incident occurred as the said pastor had just concluded his preparations for the forthcoming Benny Hinn crusade to be held at Nyayo Stadium next week.

“According to the victim who is a pastor at the Christ Church, he was heading for dinner after a beehive of activities planning for the forthcoming Benny Hinn crusade set to be held at the Nyayo National Stadium, when three men accosted him and bundled him in a waiting saloon car,” stated the DCI.

In the disturbing incident, the trio is said to have first stripped the clergyman and taken photos of him naked, which they then used to coarse him to comply with their bidding failure to which they would share the nude photos across social media platforms.

The man of God therefore decided to cooperate and the men withdrew Ksh.55,000 from his M-Pesa.

The DCI further divulged that the pastor then filed a report at the Nyayo Police Station after which a contingent of sleuths drawn from Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau detectives and Langata swang to action and arrested the culprits.

“Responding to this report which was made at Nyayo Police Post, the DCI team analysed the available forensic tips which led them to Village Apartment Hse No F2 within Syokimau where the first suspect, Bernard Mbunga Mbusu was arrested,” read the statement.

Following the arrest of the three, a search by the detectives recovered three handsets, an iPhone 13 hosting the sim card which received the stolen money and a PDQ bank card swapping machine.

They were moved to Langata Police Station where they are being detained awaiting arraignment on Monday.
