Three suspects who were arrested last week with bhang worth a street value of Ksh.10 million in Githurai 44 were on Monday arraigned in a Nairobi court. Simon Kariuki Wangechi and his employees; Hussein Nganga Abdalla and Gabriel Mwangi, were presented before Magistrate Elekta Riany where the prosecution sought more time to complete investigations. According to police, the three suspects have been selling drugs within Kasarani sub-county and learning institutions in the area. In a miscellaneous application, police asked the court to detain the three men for a period of seven days to allow them complete investigations. Lead investigator Elphas Ngetich submitted that police recovered 13 sacks and 14 bundles of green dry plant material and other powdery substances suspected to be narcotics in the house of Kariuki. “The recovered suspected substances are yet to be subjected to weighing and sampling in presence of the respondents and thereafter forwarded to the Government Analyst for examination,” said Mr. Ngetich. “The investigations are still ongoing and we are yet to record statements of witnesses which may lead to more arrests.” The court granted the prosecution four days to hold the suspects.
